Natural Philosophy

(in an attempt of translation)

Mind-matter dualism was probably the biggest waste in history! It seems we have, in one side, that guy who grab a pig by the nose and makes a ham, who cuts the food right from the tree, lights the fire, burns some hairs, feeds himself up and gets some stories to tell; who, if he finds some fossil, will relate it directly to the animal who walked, hunted and shited, and who cannot imagine our history but as a chain of "comes" and "gos" of uncountable generations, with minds borning, learning and dying one after the other, in line, in a tree, materially conscious or not about what is life about. And it seems we have in some other side (it doesn't have to be only two) that other guy who grabs a book softly, opens its pages and keeps on trying to imagine what is life, if it's the way that writer had described it or if it's the way that other writer did it. Maybe for that guy it makes much sense that mind may have existed before matter, and that all the animals that walked through this planet's surface are not our relatives, but products of our imagination, just like alphabet, arithmethics and sin. But I shouldn't be probing such dualism, let alone choosing a side. After all, both sides always have their reason d'être. Matter seems preceding whenever we see a flower blossom, and understand how such great show may have become only by means of natural selection. And mind may seem preceding whenever misery's dispair requires the hope of something bigger, and how many of us rise to heights only taking advantage of someone else's dispair?

No, it doesn't matter who came first, if the egg or the chicken. Although the genetical mutations show up in offspring, not in parents (so, the egg is different from the cloaca who've laid it, but the newborn chick is the same from within the egg). What really matters is the fact that the chick borns, grows up and occupy its place. And books and full libraries were filled with pathetic discussions about intangible things. Forgive me if I propose the egg came before, or that matter produces mind - but I hope we're still able to talk about tangible things. War is tangible, death is tangible, the hunger of a child, because economic system must grow, and for this to happen some unemployment is a must, even in advanced economies - all this is tangible. So why do so many live today as if some universal intangibility gives them the right to look only to their own navels?

Now I sit with ten thousand ghosts behind me, haunting me with assumptions and hopes. Who are they? All that, in life, haven't got the nerve to tell what they've thought, and now expect me to do that for them. All that in life have tied them up to social rules, who followed the power as if they were a magnet, a water drop obbeying gravity inside a river bed, a mechanical particle subject to the laws of masses psychology, or market, instead of people with thinking and character - that is what they were supposed to be. But what do I know about what others should be? - Who asks that question? but those same ones for whom nothing matters at all, as soon as their navel is first, yippee!

I would have liked to talk about Natural Philosophy, so then: what is Nature but movement from cells to stars, passing through meat cutted by fangs and claws and the ambition of exagerated dreams and limits imposed to small dreams? What is Nature but comma after comma in infinite phrases without full stop? Question marks over question marks, disguised as interjections since question marks delay the walk that feeds the champions? If this is Nature, there's still time for hope, mainly because most of us got used to live among the artificial, far from natural. So, there's no reason to be slaves of Nature. We may cheat it, fool it, distort it, disobey it forever - and isn't that, yet, our old fellow Nature? We've got the privilege and the right, if not the duty, to corrupt all natural order and forge a system where each one gets according to one's needs, and contribute according to one's ability. But even duties, we're no bound to them - we only suffer its consequences, according, of course, to our financial possibility of fleeing those too. But, unless you have aircrafts and private islands, all environment affects you. And environment is itself the consequence of a world who believes too much it follows the Natural order (which pretends to be divine order; when Nature doesn't know morality, but we do, and that God, that, of white men, it would have created it in first place, so pretend those who believe or pretend to believe). So enough with hypocrisy, and let us drown at once in the river of our own moral sewage. For that's our faeces, of matter and thought, and no one better than ourselves to try to clean again the running waters.
